John Graham Chambers

John Graham Chambers (1843-83) was an all-round sportsman who rowed for Cambridge, but his main claim to boxing fame is the fact that the Queensberry Rules were largely his work.

The Llanelli man, who had a flair for organisation, met the Ninth Marquess of Queensberry when the two were students at Cambridge.

Chambers’s work on the Queensberry rules earnt him induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
